CHIEF WARRANT OFFICER ALPHA J BONE DIED AT MIAMI
Chief Warrant Officer Alpha J Bone, Air Transport Command, Miami Army Air Field, Miami Florida, son of Walter and Etta Bone of Bismarck MO, was born September 26 1898 at Sabula MO and passed away October 26, 1944 at the age of 46 years 1 month at Miami Florida.
In 1921 he was united in marriage to Maud Lena Jones of Richmond, Virginia. She preceded him in death on June 15. 1939. In 1940 he was married to Lucy Mae Nixon of Galt’s Mill Virginia. To this union one son was born.
He is survived by his wife, Lucy Mae; one son, Firmin James: his parents, Mr and Mrs W Bone of Bismarck; two brothers, Firmin of Washington DC and Amos of Slagle, Louisiana; one sister, Mrs H C Abernathy of Overland MO; and a host of other relatives and friends.
He was united with the Bismarck Baptist Church in 1922. In July 1917 he joined the Army and served in Co G 43rd Infantry until discharged in May 1919. He reenlisted the same year in Motor Transport Co 97, from which he was honorably discharged in May 1922. After several years of civilian life he enlisted in the Army Air Force at Langley Field, Virginia in October 1936. During the present war he served one year with the army overseas.
He has been a member of Bismarck Lodge No 41 A.F. and A.M. since June 3, 1922.
The remains were brought to Bismarck under the escort of M Sgt Lawrence E Allison, US Army Air Corps, Miami, Florida. Funeral services were conducted at the First Baptist Church Bismarck by Rev R L Shell, pastor of the Desloge Baptist Church at 11:00 am, Thursday, November 2nd. Interment was in the Masonic Cemetery at Bismarck with military honors and services at the grave conducted by the Bismarck Masonic Lodge.
