Martha was the daughter of Quaker immigrants Matthew Clayton and Sybilla Buckworth of Nottingham Twp., old Burlington Co., West New Jersey (now Hamilton Twp., Mercer Co.). She was probably born there in the early 1690s, and possibly even after the death of her father in 1694. In 1715, she was named as a legatee in the will of widow Catharine Pearson of Nottingham. Martha might have been a ward or servant in the Pearson household. Her marriage to John Rogers Sr. probably occurred sometime after Mar. 1716/17, since she did not sign a deed with him at that time. She is presumed to be the mother of his nine children. John and Martha are identified as former co-grantors of "Sybal's Plantation" (Martha's mother's property) in the 1727 will of Nathaniel Leonard. https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/146278628/martha-rogers
