Donald Grant Severson, 28, Boyceville, lost his life Sept. 7 in an airplane crash at Eilson Air Force Base, Alaska. Two other members of the crew died with him when their aircraft failed mechanically. Funeral services were held Sept. 18 at Wheeler Lutheran church, the Rev. Warren C. Weeg officiating. Legion posts from Boyceville and Wheeler took part in the graveside services. Donald Severson was born Sept. 22, 1822, on a farm in the Boyceville vicinity. He attended Boyceville school, graduating in 1941. He enlisted in the air force in 1942 and attended cadet school receiving his wings and commission, and at time of death was a captain in the United States Air Force. Capt. Severson was adjutant of the maintenance and supply groups at Eilson Air Force Base in Alaska in addition to his flying duties. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran church. He was married to Gilda, Gregerson, Wheeler, on March' 23, 1946. Donald Severson is survived by his wife. Gilda: his parents. Mr. and Mrs. Eli Severson, Boyceville; one sister, Mrs. Donald Gregerson, Eau Claire: three brothers, Orris, Reedsport, Ore.; Lane, DeKalb, Ill.; and Earl, Eau Claire. Capt. Severson was loved and respected by his officers and men of the air force and his. many friends and relatives in the vicinity of Boyceville and Wheeler.
