Arabella Jemima GRAY was born in 1768 to William GRAY and Lydia (Richardson) GRAY in Rowan County, NC. She married Nathaniel DEAVER in 1791 at Buncombe County, NC. Nathaniel died in 1812 in the Illinois Territory. (They had several children.) Arabella married John Walton HARRINGTON about 1812 in NC. They were coming to Texas when John was killed in a sawmill accident in Arkansas. She arrived in Texas in the 1820s while it was still under Mexican rule and settled in present day Brenham, Washington County. Much of downtown Brenham is built on the Harrington League.
