  [S10530] Find a Grave: ELSER John, ELSER John 1856-1935. John Elser was born in Columbus, OH, July 22, 1856, and departed this life May 15, 1935, after a long illness at the age of 78 years, 8 months and 7 days. Funeral services were conducted May 17th at two P.M. at the Doe Run Baptist Church by Rev. E.H. Zipprodt, of Flat River, followed by interment in the Odd Fellows Cemetery, near Doe Run. At the age of seven years, the deceased came to Missouri with his parents and settled in St. Francois County, near Doe Run. Here he spent the remainder of his life. On March 2, 1882, he was united in marriage to Miss Louisa Elizabeth 'Lulu' Rhu, who survives him. Six children were born to this union. One son, Forrest, preceded the father in death in 1922. Mr. and Mrs. Elser made their home on a farm south of Doe Run, where he was considered one of the best farmers in this section. He professed faith in Christ and expressed himself as only waiting for the release of this world of pain to be at rest with his Lord. He had been a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge for many years. He leaves to mourn his passing his beloved wife; three sons, Christian John 'Chris' Elser of Flat River, Frank Elser of Ironton, Route One, and George Elser, at the home; two daughters, Mrs. Elmer Huff of Ironton, Route One, and Maggie (Mrs. Fred) McDuffee of Bonne Terre; one sister, Mrs. Henry Seitz of Middlebrook; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends. https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/101289303/john-elser
