TORRINGTON Private memorial services for Merl R. Peters, 75, will be conducted at a later date. Mr. Peters died Jan. 3, 1992, at the Community Hospital in Torrington.
He was born June 30, 1916, in Sargent, Neb., to Frank and Emma (Edwards) Peters. He moved to Wyoming and attended Woods School in Yoder. On June 30, 1939, he married Demarius Ferguson in Torrington. He worked as a mechanic and operated Peters' Repair Shop in Torrington. He worked for Goshen Irrigation District for many years before retiring in 1981.
Survivors include his wife of Torrington; three daughters, Elizabeth "Betty" Bassett and Sheila McMurdo, both of Casper, and Jeanette Anderson of Fort Laramie; one son, Tom Peters and one sister, Viola Morgan, both of Torrington; 13 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters. Friends may call at The Colyer Funeral Home Sunday from 3 to 7 p.m. and Monday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m

Funeral services for Demarius "Dee" Peters, 84, will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 14, at Colyer Funeral Home Chapel with Ken Hestead officiating. Cremation will take place following the service, and private family interment of the cremains will take place at a later date. Visitation will be Sunday, Aug. 13, from 3-7 p.m., Monday from 9 a.m. to noon, and briefly following the service.
She died Aug. 8, 2006, at Platte County Memorial Nursing Home in Wheatland. Born May 5, 1922, in Decatur, Neb., the daughter of William and Charity (Fuller) Ferguson, she moved with her family to Wyoming at an early age and received her education at various places in the state.
On June 30, 1939, she married Merl Peters in Torrington. They lived in Rawlins and Cheyenne for short times before moving to Torrington in 1941, where she e remained the rest of her life.
She loved to read, crochet and embroider, and was active in many bowling leagues, serving as secretary on many of them. She was still bowling at age 83.
Survivors include three daughters, Elizabeth Bassett and Sheila McMurdo of Casper and Jeanette Shultz of Torrington, and their husbands; a son, Tom Peters of Laughlin, Nev.; two sisters, Jacquelene Davis of Roseville, Calif., and Wyoma Hestead of Caldwell, Idaho; 13 grandchildren and three step-grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and nine step-great-grandchildren; and five step-greatgreat-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two sisters, Edith Robbins and Valerie Whybrew; and one brother, William Ferguson II.
A memorial has been established to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
