Tandy Lyle Chester, 82, Woodlawn, Tenn, died Friday, Dec 1 2006, at Veterans Hospital, Nashville. The funeral will be held at Larson Funeral Home with the Rev. Monty Flanigan officiating.
Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Stewart County. Visitation will be at the funeral home. McReynolds-Nave Larson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
He was born Jan 13, 1924, in Stewart County, son of the late Dallas and Ellie Ruth Chester. He was a retired horse trainer, World War II Navy veteran and a Baptist. Survivors include daughters, Loretta Mickam, Bumpus Mills TN, Kathy McCord, Clarksville, Debbie Brock, Woodlawn TN; sisters, Sybil Gatti, Memphis, Susan Carpenter, Nashville, Jeanette Pressler, Clarksville; grandchildren, Sean Tigart, Steven Gray, Cheryl Lee, Ronda Wallace, Brian McCord and Tyler Brock.

Tandy Chester, 32-year-old resident of New Providence, was fined a total of $200 and court cost and received a 15-day sentence to the county workgang as a result of four charges" brought against him by members of the Tennessee Highway Patrol.

Defense Attorney WR Fain immediately made an appeal of Judge Laurence McMillan's findings in the case. The appeal will be to Montgomery County Criminal Court Judge WD Hudson.

A charge of interfering with an officer, levied against Chester's 25-year-old wife, was dismissed by Judge McMillan following presentation of the three-hour-long proceedings in General Sessions Court on Friday afternoon.

Chester was convicted of driving on a revoked driver's license, reckless driving, resisting arrest, and assault with a rifle. He was fined $50 and court costs on each of the four counts, plus the 15-day sentence on the county workgang on the revoked license charge. Both Chester and his wife entered pleas of not guilty to all specifications except the driving on a revoked driver's license, and waived their rights to a trial by jury.

Chester posted bond of $50 on each of the four counts, and was released pending the hearing before Judge Hudson. . . .

MANCHESTER-The City Court hearing for three Montgomery County residents arrested here after a Ku Klux Klan rally April 26 was postponed Tuesday until Nov 10. Charged with parading without a permit were Robert Tilson 49, Rose Tilson, 18, both of Route 6, and Tandy L Chester, 57, Route 1, Woodlawn. Their charges will be heard after a Circuit Court trial of Klan leader Bill Wilkinson.
Wilkinson appealed to the higher court after he was convicted in Manchester City Court of parading without a permit. The Klan group's lawyer asked that the remaining defenders' hearings be delayed until Wilkinson's appeal is heard. The defendants from Montgomery County were among 22 Klansmen arrested after marching along US 41 to the Manchester town square.
