Oliver J "Ollie" Diel of Salinas died Monday at Natividad Medical Center after an apparent heart attack. He was 78. A native of St Louis, Mr. Diel lived in Salinas 43 years. He was a retired mens apparel salesman and a member of Disabled American Veterans Post 101 and Salinas American Legion Post No 31. He served in the US Navy during World War II. Mr. Diel is survived by his wife, Thelma Diel of Salinas. No funeral services are planned. Inurnment will be in the Garden of Memories. Arrangements are under the direction of the Struve and Laporte Funeral Chapel.

Thelma N Diel of Salinas died Tuesday at Natividad Medical Center following a brief illness. She was 87. Mrs. Diel was a native of Desloge MO, and lived in Salinas for 47 years. She was a retired finance clerk at Salinas Union High School District. She was also employed by the Salinas Selective Service Board. Mrs. Diel was a member of the Northminster Presbyterian Church, El Gabilan Chapter No 574, Order of Eastern Star. She leaves her in-laws of Missouri.
Friends may call at the Struve and Laporte Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will be Friday in the chapel. Officers of El Gabilan Chapter No 574, Order of Eastern Star will officiate. Burial will be in the Garden of Memories cemetery.
