Suzanne E Mauntel (nee Smith) 87, formerly of Palatine, Wauconda, and Niles, passed away with her family by her side on May 12, 2014. She was born in Chicago on June 24, 1926 to the late Harry E Smith and Elizabeth (nee Hiestand) Smith.
Suzanne is survived by her 4 children: Robert J (Alyson) Dickson of Anchorage, AK, Rebecca (Michael) Rahn of Wheaton IL, Christopher W (Rebecca) Dickson of Newburg, IN and Stephen W (Jean) Dickson of Nashua NH and her brother Roger A (Betty) Smith of Ft Meyers FL. Proud grandmother of 10: Peter, Joshua, Theodore, Ian, Rachel, John, Natalie, and Maria Dickson and Michael and Matthew Rahn. Great grandmother of 3: Clara, Louis and Elias. She was loved by many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Sara E Huter.
Suzanne led a very active life. She was a founding member of The Church of the Holy Apostles in Wauconda IL. From 2000 to 2008, she was the 40th Ward Repuplican Committeeman in the city of Chicago.
A Requiem Mass will be offered with interment in the parish columbarium at The Church of Ascension, Chicago IL. Reception at the church to follow the funeral service. Donations may be made to this church in her name.
