Don Rocky Tuttle, 48, died unexpectedly March 24 2002, at his home. He was born in Augusta March 26 1953 the son of Donald Tuttle and Joan (Drouin) Tuttle. Rocky was educated in Augusta schools and had been employed by Kevin Matson at Harpers Construction for several years. He was a great enthusiast of hot rods, old cars, and drag racing. He won a trophy at Winterport Dragway for winning several consecutive races. He had plans for building a drag car with his father this summer. Rocky had a great sense of humor and was happiest when he would make his fellow workers and other folks laugh. He loved his little dog Nikki, who was his constant companion. Rocky was very artistic and well-known in the area for his sign lettering and murals at local businesses. He was called upon to letter trucks and race cars and to do flame jobs on motorcycles and other vehicles. He collected scale-model cars and built countless models of cars and trucks. Rocky was very proud of his trophy-winning black Corvette. He was a member of the Hot Rod Association. Surviving are his parents of Augusta; an older brother Gary Tuttle of Augusta; two sons, Nathan Spongier and his wife Waneta of Florida, and Ian Johnson of Pennsylvania; his beloved daughter Alicia Tuttle, and her mother, long-time companion, Pamela Savoy of Farmingdale; and four grandchildren of Florida. Visiting at Plummer Funeral Home, Augusta, where a funeral service will be held with the Rev Don Williams, pastor of Fellowship Baptist Church, officiating.
