Lillian Frances (Murphy) Wallis, 83, died April 30, 2009, at her home in St. Cloud, Fla.
Mrs. Wallis was a former resident of Groton from 1945 to 1955 and from 1960 to 1999. She worked as a school bus aid in Groton for many years after the death of her husband, Floyd C. (Knobby) Wallis. She was also very involved in ceramics and had many local acquaintances through that hobby. Although born in Portland, Maine and raised in Portsmouth, N.H., Mrs. Wallis had spent the majority of her years in Groton and continued to return for yearly visits after her move to Florida.
Mrs. Wallis is survived by her four children, Pat Strang of Cochran, Ga., Bob Wallis (wife Linda) of Lake Helen, Fla., Frank Wallis (wife Jackie) of South Windsor and The Villages, Fla. and Ned Wallis of New London. She is also survived by six grandchildren; nine grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; her sister, Marjorie Stadnick of Wakefield, R.I. and many nieces and nephews.
Private services and internment will be conducted at Calverton National Cemetery in Long Island, N.Y.
