Lenora Pierson was born April 3, 1922, in Carey to Alwin and Willie Dudley. She was one of nine children. She married Walter Pierson on Aug. 18, 1946, in Plainview. Together, their union was completed after 63 years of marriage. In January 1956, they moved to Hereford, where they farmed for more than 40 years. Lenora was a homemaker, worked for Hereford Independent School District in the cafeteria for many years and was very active in Hereford Assembly of God. She served as a Sunday school teacher, worked with Women's Ministry, sang in the church choir and enjoyed singing the old hymns, and served in other various avenues of church ministry. She served in this capacity for more than 40 years until they moved to Dumas in 2001. She was a member of First Assembly of God in Dumas. She was an avid supporter of church missionaries and wrote many letters of encouragement over the years.
She had three sons and a daughter. After her children were grown, they adopted another child in 1975. She worked very hard as a loving wife and mother. She served the Lord with her whole heart, reading the Bible through more than 40 times and praying daily for her family and friends. She always thought of others and provided for others as the need would arise. During the 40 years, she and her husband saw that many children were provided a ride to Sunday school and church.
She will be remembered by many for her cookies and gingerbread. Her joy was being with her family and sharing with her family and friends about Jesus Christ.
