USS Mobile (CL-63) was a Cleveland-class light cruiser of the United States Navy. She was the third ship named for Mobile, Alabama. She was laid down on 14 April 1941 by Newport News Shipbuilding and Dry Dock Co., Newport News, Virginia; launched on 15 May 1942; sponsored by Mrs. Harry T. Hartwell; and commissioned on 24 March 1943, Captain Charles J.
