TURNER-PFC Lindsay Clinton USMC
PFC Turner#2488851 MOS:0351 AntiTank Assaultman. Lindsay was born in Rock Hill SC. The Turner family later moved to Edgemoor SC. He enlisted in the Marines 4 Sep 1968 at the Charlotte Recruiting Office in NC. He graduated from Parris Island MCRD with Platoon 1022. Lindsay arrived in Vietnam 17 Mar 1969 and was assigned to 3rd Platoon, Echo Company, 2nd Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division. Lindsay was wounded 24 Mar at 1300H, 7 days after arriving in Vietnam, as a result of shrapnel from hostile mortar fire. Medevac to 3rd Medical Battalion for removal of shrapnel and returned to duty with Echo. Lindsay died as a result of multiple fragmentation wounds to the head and body from a rocket propelled grenade, when the 3rd Platoon and Mortar Platoon were attacked by an NVA Company,about 0430H, at Mutters Ridge, 16 kilometers north northwest of Ca La Airfield, during Operation Idaho Canyon. Lindsay was single and served his country for 11 months and 6 days.
