This is a copy of my hand-painted Coat of Arms for the Sumner family. It was a gift to me from a student whose mother did this so that she could stay at home with her children. The lion's head signifies strength and foritude; ermine means dignity and honor and association with royalty; chevron is a mark of honor or rank in military; the crown worn as a collar indicates connection with nobility. No motto indicates it is old since they started the mottos about 1600.
