He was married on August 18, 1940 to Dorothy Elizabeth Petway (1920–1999), the daughter of Ethel Elizabeth (Ussery) (Petway) Lewis (ca 1895– ) and her 1st husband William H Petway. Henry was a member and elder of Locust Grove Cumberland Presbyterian Church, he was also a US Army veteran who served during World War II in Germany. A farmer and a foreman at Vulcan Corporation, he was living in Cunningham, Montgomery County and was 58 years old and married when he was killed in a farming accident, pinned to a barn by a feeder on December 10, 1979. Survivors included his widow Dorothy Petway Yarbrough, two sons in Cunningham and a 3rd son of Clarksville, sister Mrs James Castleberry at Clarksville and three grandchildren.
