Daughter of the 3rd Duke of Buckingham, Elizabeth married the powerful Thomas Howard, 3rd Duke of Norfolk, in 1512, thus becoming the most powerful Duchess in the country. She was his second wife; the first, Anne Plantagenet Howard, had perished the previous year. One of her children was Henry, Earl of Surrey and poet.
