Sarah (Yarbrough) (Davis) Black was born on August 19, 1859 in Tennessee, the daughter of Joseph "Weldon" Yarbrough (1827–1896) and Mildred "Millie" (Yarbrough) Yarbrough (1835–1920.
She was married 1st on December 1, 1881 in Montgomery County to Alexander "Alex" Davis (1846-1890), and she was married 2nd on August 6, 1910 as the 4th wife of Wiley Jacob "Jake" Black (1842-1912).
Living with her Moorefield daughter since the death of her 2nd husband, Sarah was 68 years old, a widow and an invalid when she died of a combination of pneumonia and flu on April 9, 1928 at home in the Lone Oak community of Montgomery County.
Survivors included daughters Laura (Davis) Moorefield (1883–1933) and Ada (Davis) Smith (1885–1972); brothers Alex Yarbrough, Newt Yarbrough, Henry Yarbrough, Weldon Yarbrough and Jones Yarbrough and sisters Mrs JZ Baggett and Mrs Ed Carnes.
Graveside Services were held on April 10th in Davis Cemetery, under the surname Davis and next to her 1st husband. Her 2nd husband Wiley, on the other hand, was buried in Black Cemetery where his 1st three wives are buried.
