  [S6565] Find a Grave: TURPIN Thomas 1593-1649, Thomas Turpin. Thomas Turpin appears to have been born in Compton-Martin, Somerset, England about 1595-1600. No birth records have been found. He was a fisherman and ferryman in New Hampshire by the 1640s and entered into a partnership with a Richard Cummings. Thomas drowned at sea on 29 October 1649 and his death is detailed in the Genealogical Dictionary of Maine and New Hampshire. He was the father of three known daughters and husband to Jane Batchelder who remarried a Thomas Furzen upon Thomas' drowning.
