Clayton Rogers (son of Matthew Rogers and Margery Brown) was born 01 Jan 1750 in Windsor, Middlesex County, New Jersey, and died 01 Feb 1837 in Bullard's Creek, Jackson County Tennessee. from Genealogy .com Clayton Rogers, born in (Dec. 20, )1749 came with his wife, Betridge Sadler Rogers, from the District of Chester, South Carolina to Jackson County about 1808. He purchased land and settled just west of Bullards Creek on July 14, 1808, it being part of a grant by North Carolina to Kedar Parker. John Bowen was clerk of the County Court at that time. Clayton Rogers died in 1836. Other information indicates that he died in Jackson County Feb. 1, 1837.
Clayton Rogers was a Revolutionary Soldier in York County, South Carolina before moving to Tennessee. He enlisted on 25 September 1775 in the New Acquisition (York County) Militia under Capt William Gaston and in 1780 he served sixty-eight days as quartermaster in the militia under Col Winn.
