He purchased land and settled just west of Bullards Creek on July 14, 1808, it being part of a grant by North Carolina to Kedar Parker. John Bowen was clerk of the County Court at that time. Clayton Rogers died in 1836. Other information indicates that he died in Jackson County Feb. 1, 1837. Clayton Rogers was a Revolutionary Soldier in York County, South Carolina before moving to Tennessee.
