Services will be held 2 p.m., Thursday, April 28, 2011 at Neal-Tarpley-Parchman Chapel with Rev. Steven Louder and Rev. E.G. Sims officiating. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the hour of the service. Burial in Greenwood Cemetery. Ms. Balthrop was born December 2, 1921 in Clarksville, TN, daughter of the late Raymond S. Hicks, Sr. and Ellie Catherine McElvoy Hicks. She was a retired insurance agent with State Farm and was a member of Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Survivors include son, David Balthrop (Donna); two daughters, Cathy Balthrop Downs (Max) and Susan Balthrop Teague (Raymond); two brothers, Raymond Hicks, Jr. (Katherine) and James Hicks (Sarah) all of Clarksville; three sisters, Johnnie Hicks Thomas of Clarksville, Eloise Hicks Phillips of SC and Margaret Hicks Ashford of TX; grandchildren, John David Balthrop of FL, Kevin Downs (Martha) of ND, Kelly Downs (Jennifer), Jennifer Teague, Samantha Chester (Mark) and Morgan Zumbro (Jesse) all of Clarksville; great grandchildren, Andrew and Ali Downs, Shane Cardwell and Emma Chester; great great grandchild, Peyton Zumbro; caregiver, Sherry Jones.
