Mary Oldham (Smith) Bryant was born May 5, 1883 in Montgomery County, Tennessee, and she was the daughter of Mack Ferrin "M F" Smith (1842–1914) and his 1st wife Elizabeth Martha "Mattie" (Brodie) Smith (1846–1890). She was married in 1903 to Henry P Bryant (16 Feb 1876–30 Nov 1910). Living at 209 Cave Street in Clarksville, Montgomery County, Mary was 74 years old and a widow when she died at home on December 19, 1957 after being ill for four years. Survivors included daughters Mrs Lester Shelby in Detroit, Michigan and Mrs Marie Salph of Clarksville, brother W C Smith at Clarksville, two half-brothers Mack F Smith in Nashville, Tennessee and Lurton Smith of Knoxville, Tennessee and half-sister Mrs A B Vaughan at Clarksville.
