William "Bill" Cathey, 89, of Sunday, Jan. 14, 2001, at Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. He was born in Turlock and lived in Salinas for 65 years.
He was the retired owner and operator of Cathey's Used Salinas, died William 'Bill' Cathey William 'Bill' Cars in Salinas for many years. He was a private pilot for many years and enjoyed flying.
• Military service: U.S. Army during World War II.
• Survivors: Daughters, Mary Collins of Salinas and Karen Kerr of Colorado; sons, William Cathey and Alvin Ratton of Corona; granddaughter, Danielle Kerr; and nephew, Mike Cathey.

[S9941] Newspapers.com: Divorce of CATHEY Clara and William • Salinas Californian - Aug 1957, (Name: The Californian; Location: Salinas CA; Date: 6 Aug 1957;), SALINAS MAN HELD IN JAIL SUED FOR DIVORCE BY WIFE.
Lee C. Boyce of 345 Paloma street told police yesterday that he was awakened from his sleep by a man beating him, and identified his assailant as William P. Cathey, 45, of 708 East Market street.
Later, Cathey was arrested on a warrant charging peace disturbance.
While Cathey was being held in the Monterey county jail, he was served with papers informing him that his wife, Clara Lou Cathey of 728 Fairfax street, had instituted divorce proceedings against him.
