Retired from USAF in 1961; served as California Area Coordinator for Selective Service from 1961 until retirement in 1974. Ted held memberships in and served as Past Commander of La Mirada VFW Post 9148; El Bekel Shrine, charter member and Past Captain of Tin Lizzies Unit; Solomon's Staircase Lodge No.357F.A.M.; 33rd Degree Mason; Fullerton Elks Lodge 1993; and former La Mirada Commissioner of Parks and recreation. Ted is survived by wife Patricia; son Dr D Proffitt III and wife, Janet; daughter Stephanie Proffitt, granddaughter Madison Kate Proffitt. A memorial graveside service with USAF Military and Masonic honors will be held 10am Saturday, March 24, 2012. Olive Lawn Memorial Park, La Mirada CA. Reception celebrating Ted's life following services will be held at La Mirada VFW Post 9148, 13932 Valley View, La Mirada CA 90638.
