"Continental Line ● Revolutionary War"
William Wiley was born in 1751 in Pennsylvania. He lived near Harrisburg and came to Ohio in 1795, settled in Cedar Narrows, above Marrietta, then relocated to Duck Creek. William then went to Noble County in 1808, where he was a pioneer of the county and settler in Sharon Village. He was a weaver by trade.
William's known sons were: James, John (1780), William (1781), and Thomas (1795).
He was a soldier in the Revolutionary War, serving the Continental Line. He donated a half-acre of land on his farm for burial purposes and was the first person buried in the little cemetery.
