Mary Oldham (Smith) Bryant was born May 5, 1883 in Montgomery County, Tennessee, and she was the daughter of Mack Ferrin "M F" Smith (1842–1914) and his 1st wife Elizabeth Martha "Mattie" (Brodie) Smith (1846–1890).
She was married in 1903 to Henry P Bryant (16 Feb 1876–30 Nov 1910).
Living at 209 Cave Street in Clarksville, Montgomery County, Mary was 74 years old and a widow when she died at home on December 19, 1957 after being ill for four years.
Survivors included daughters Mrs Lester Shelby in Detroit, Michigan and Mrs Marie Salph of Clarksville, brother W C Smith at Clarksville, two half-brothers Mack F Smith in Nashville, Tennessee and Lurton Smith of Knoxville, Tennessee and half-sister Mrs A B Vaughan at Clarksville.
Funeral Services were held at McReynolds Funeral Home, and burial was was buried in Resthaven Memorial Gardens.

A 12 weeks' illness of paralysls caused the death Wednesday of Gus Smith, 44, farmer of the Indian Mound, in Stewart county, who was buried In the family cemetery Friday.
He was a native of Montgomery county and was a brother of Harry Smith, deputy county court clerk. Mr. Smith was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Mack Smith.
Surviving are his widow who was Mis Viola Bryant; two sons, Vernle of Indian Mound, and another, nine-year-old; six brothers, Lurton Smith, Miami Fla.; Allen Smith, Dickson, Harry, Clarksville: Walter and Will Smith, Stewart county; three sisters, Mrs. Mary Bryant, Mrs. Emma Bryant and Mrs. A. Vaughan, all of Indian Mound. Mr. Smith was a member of the Methodist church and enjoyed a wide acquaintance.

Mrs. Blanche Smith, 87, died Wednesday night at the residence of her son, Joe T. Allen, 30 Canal St., Miami Springs. She arrived in Miami an hour before from Clarksville, Tenn.
She had spent the past three winters here. She is survived by six other sons. James B. Allen, Biloxi, Miss.; Frank B. Allen, Cheatham county, Tennessee; Harry M. Smith, Clarksville; Mack Ferin Smith and Allen Smith Nashville: Lurtin E. Smith, Knoxville; a daughter, Mrs. Amber L. Vaughn, Clarksville; two brothers. Earnest Payne, Robertson county, Tennessee, and Robert Payne. Clarksville.
The body will be sent to Clarksville by the Joseph P. McGhan home for services and burial.
