Erie “Dale” Cunningham, 94, of Murray died Sunday, May 22, 2016, at the Henry County Healthcare Center in Paris TN. He was a US veteran, serving with distinction in the World War II, European Theater, where he earned several medals, including the Purple Heart and an EAME Ribbon with Bronze Star. He was a retired steel worker from National Steel Company and a 3rd Degree Master Mason with the Masonic Lodge of Dearborn, Michigan. He was of the Baptist faith and attended Glendale Road Church of Christ. He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Geraldine Darnall Thomas Cunningham; one daughter, Linda Dallas Cunningham Erhart of DeBary, Florida; three stepsons, Edward Thomas of Greensboro NC, Kenneth Thomas of Summerville SC, Michael Thomas of Rolling Hills Estates CA; one stepdaughter, Sherri Thomas Austin of Chesapeake VA; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Armella Dallas Cunningham; three brothers; one sister; one stepson, Gerald R Dallas; one grandson; and one great-grandson. His parents were Erie Dalton Cunningham and Beatrice Thomas Cunningham. Services will be at noon on Thursday, May 26, 2016, at Blalock-Coleman and York Funeral Home with John Dale officiating. Entombment will follow in Murray Memorial Gardens.
