  [S6040] FindAGrave Old World, George Poingdestre 1480-1544. George Poingdestre was born about 1480 on the Isle of Jersey. His parents were John and Alinor Poingdestre. For the first time in over two centuries, George's brother Jean, the first-born son, forfeited his rights of inheritance to become a cleric. The estate and fiefdom went instead to his brother George. George was less politically prominent than his predecessors. He was constable of the parish of St. Saviour and seigneur of the ancestral estate as well as part owner of the Fief es St. Germain. He married into the Ahier family, another prominent island family. His wife Girette was a niece of Sire Thomas Ahier, a priest of St. Saviour's parish.
