He was born on the Isle of Jersey in 1581 and baptized in the parish church of St. Saviour on August 11, 1581. He became owner of the Fief es Poingdestres upon the death of his father in 1622. Thomas married Elizabeth Effard, daughter of Rev. Nicholas Effard and Sara de Chaumont on December 14, 1614, also at St. Saviour's.
