- [S11755] Find a Grave: WOOTEN Dana Morphis 1957-2025, Dana Lee Wooten Morphis.
Dana Morphis (Wooten)
Beloved Daughter, Sister, Niece, Aunt, Great Aunt, Sister-In-Law, Wife, Mother, Friend, and much more...
Dana Lee Morphis, age 67, died peacefully in her home on May 21st, 2025, in Shelbyville, TN.
Born on October 14th, 1957, in Nashville, TN, Dana was the youngest of three children. She married Larry Morphis in 1976, and together they raised their son, Jacob, instilling in him love, faith, a zeal for life, and a passion for serving others.
Dana was known for her caring nature, having skillfully served hundreds of people of vulnerable populations through her 25-year caregiving career. She would give her shelter, time, labor, and shirt off her back to anyone who needed it. Her kind, infectious spirit and vibrant personality could heal your heart, while at the same time be the life of the party. She was the most genuine soul, and a fun loving, social delight to be around, bringing humor and authenticity to every room she walked into.
Dana was 'Team Mom' through many years of her son Jacob's youth sports endeavors. In many ways she was a secondary mom to any friend of his who would step foot into her home. She loved everyone with open arms and a heart of service. It was standard protocol that you would never walk away from her without a hug, encouragement, and oftentimes a full plate of food. Her loyalty to those she loved and cared for, rivaled the depths of the deepest oceans. Whoever you are - family, friend, stranger - her mere presence was hospitality...and her warm embrace was "home" to you.
Dana's life has left an ongoing mark on this world in which her nurturing waves of love will ripple effect... forever.
She is preceded in death by her parents Bill Wooten and Eleanor Wooten Horn, Sister Gail Wooten Tune, Brothers-In-Law Eddie Tune, Johnny and Jerry Morphis, Cousins Clifford Smith (Judy), Cheryl Smith, Harold Hamilton (Cathy), Bill Hamilton. She is survived by Husband Larry Morphis, Son Jacob Morphis, Sister Pamela Wooten Klase (Dave), Aunt Ann Hamilton, Sister-In-Law Betty Jackson, Brother-In-Law Rick Morphis (Nancy), Cousins Larry Smith (Diane), Rand Smith (Beth), Marty Smith (Pam), and Jeff Smith (Ann), Wes Hamilton (Linda), Sharon Smith Steidle (Ken), Melinda Smith Wood, Nieces Diane Denney Geier (Jay), Rosemary Denney Neubert (Randy), Molly Morphis, Amanda Klase (Phil Johnson), Karen Belcher, Melissa Stadick, Nephews Greg Denney (Sara), Matt Klase (Jessica), Zack (Lisa) and Caleb Morphis, Mike Jackson, Great Nieces Georgia and Ashley Neubert, Annabelle Geier Hilburn (Rhett), Isabel and Caroline Klase, and Paige Denney, Great Nephews Patrick Denney, Flint and Jack Geier, Jackson Klase, Luke Morphis, and close family friends Shirley Murray and Ronda Osment.
