Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 19, 2009, in Gardens of Memory, between Headland & Dothan, with Rev. James A. Rich officiating. Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the "Activities Fund" of the Henry County Health & Rehabilitation Facility, 212 Dothan Road, Abbeville, AL 36310. Mrs. McArdle was born April 6, 1930 in the "hills" of Dickson, Tennessee to the late Evie DeLoach Batey and Hubert Allen Batey. She married John Gerald McArdle who bravely took on six girls, Patricia Hope Smith Barton of Ludowici, GA; Jennie Lou Register and husband, Paul, Dothan; Debra Evie Kleotzer & husband, Ron, Sevierville, TN; Robin Elliott & husband, Harnage, Haleburg; Mallie Mae Bo-chette and husband, Bruce, Hinesville, GA; Betty Jo Berry and husband, Damon, Georgetown, GA. They had three sons, Austin McArdle and wife, Dianne, John McArdle and Gerry McArdle and wife, Patty all of Kinsey; fourteen grandchildren, Dustin, Hannah, Quenton, Amanda, Marie, Preston, Kelly Wayne, Lisa, Charity, Haley, Heather, B. J., Johnny Lee and Stephanie; several great grandchildren and also several nieces and nephews. She had one living sister, Sue Hinton of Tennessee and was preceded in death by a sister, Aline Rhea and a brother, Thomas Batey. Aslee was baptized at the Old Webb Road Baptist Church. She was a dedicated homemaker who loved to sew, quilt and work in her flower beds. "All men are like grass and all their glory is like the flowers of the field. The grass withers and the flowers fall because the breath of the Lord blows on them. Surely the people are grass. The grass withers and flowers fall but the word of our God stands forever." He said He would never leave us or forsake us and He kept His promise. She always wanted to "go home" and now she has. We love you mom.
