Edice Ray Smith (1928-2014)

Edice Ray Smith was the son of Mack Smith and Myrtle (Sanderson) Smith Post. He was born on January 11, 1928 in Clarksville, Tennessee and died on August 28, 2014 in Nashville, Tennessee, following a long illness.

Ed loved working with people, and providing service to his friends, family, customers, and church. He managed Flagg Brothers shoe stores before becoming a State Farm Insurance agent. He was an Eagle Scout, Scout Master, and Cub Master. A Lutheran, he will be missed by other members of Memorial Lutheran Church of Nashville, First Lutheran Church of Nashville, and the Southeastern Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mack and Myrtle Smith, one sister, Eleanor Horn, a son, Edice Ray Smith, Jr., and his wives, Clara Twomey Smith and Janice Lund Blankenship Smith.

He will be mourned and missed by a brother, Harold Smith; a sister, Ann Hamilton; sons and daughters-in-law Larry and Dianne, Rand and Beth, Jeff and Ann, and Marty and Pam; step­ daughters, Karen and Kathy; as well as thirteen grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at Woodlawn Funeral Home in Nashville, and First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Nashville. The funeral service will be held immediately following the visitation, and will be conducted by the Rev. Brian Hooper at First Lutheran. Interment will be at Woodlawn Memorial Park. Edice’s grandchildren, and their spouses or fiances will serve as honorary pallbearers: Stephanie (Matt Keegan), Jennifer (Charles) Fisher, Rachael (Kevin Olsen), Sarah (David) Foutch, Holly (Russell) Hanberry, Dan, MaryBeth, Andrew (Julie Campbell), Kayla (Blake Bohanan), Christie, Angela (Charles Davis), Chris (Becky), and Amanda (Spencer Johnston).


Clara Mae Twomey Smith (1929-1995)

Clara Twomey Smith died Thursday March 16, 1995 at her home in Nashville, at the age of 66, following a long illness. She was the daughter of Bertha and Lawrence Twomey but was raised as a foster-child of Bernice and Lawrence Hood.

Survived by husband, Edice R. Smith; sons, Larry and wife, Dianne, Rand and wife, Beth, Jeff and wife, Ann, and Marty and wife, Pam; and thirteen grandchildren.

Remains rest Phillips-Robinson Funeral Home in Nashville, where Visitation will be held. Remains will be taken to Memorial Lutheran Church, where services will be conducted with the Rev Carl Gabielsen and the Rev Kenneth Hartzheim officiating. Pallbearers: J.C. Frye, Ray Newbill, Phil Watts, Don McCoin, Bobby Allen, and Corky Cross. Interment Woodlawn Memorial Park.


Larry's Grandparents

Mack Ferrin "Tiny" Smith (1898-1968)

Mack Ferrin Smith died Thursday, June 20, 1968, at a local infirmary in Nashville.

Survived by wife, Mrs: Myrtle Sanderson Smith; daughters, Mrs. Bill Wooten of Nashville and Mrs. Lonie Hamilton of Homewood, Illinois; sons, Harold C. Smith of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; and Edice R. Smith of Nashville; 14 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

"Tine McFerrin Smith" served in the Army during World War I, as a PFC in Company L of the Tennessee 1st Infantry.

Remains are in the Rose Room of Woodlawn Funeral Home in Nashville. Services will be conducted in the Woodlawn Chapel of Roses by Rev. David Coleman. Honorary pallbearers, Coleman H.H.H. class of Riverside Baptist Church. Active pallbearers: grandsons will serve. Interment at Woodlawn Memorial Park.



Myrtle Clarisse Sanderson Smith Post (1901-1989)

Mrs. Myrtle Smith Post died at the age of 87 on August 16, 1989.

She is survived by two sons, Mr. & Mrs.: Harold E. (Nancy) Smith of Little Rock, AR, Mr. & Mrs. Ed R. (Clara) Smith of Nashville; two daughters, Eleanor Wooten of Nashville and Mr. & Mrs. Lonnie-(Anne) Hamilton of Hot Springs Village, AR; one brother, Bryant Sanderson; three sisters, Margie Williams, Bessie Wright and Bertie Weaver; fourteen grandchildren; and thirty-two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were at the Woodlawn Chapel of Roses with Dr. Robert Byrd and The Rev. Chuck McElhannon officiating. Interment in Woodlawn Memorial Park with Grandsons as Pallbearers. She is buried between her husbands, Mack Ferrin Smith and Daniel West Post.



Lawrence Adolph Twomey (1892-1909)

Lawrence Twomey died on Jul 13, 1973. He was the son of John J "Bunion" Twomey and Elizabeth Caroline Davis Twomey. He married (1) Cleo Bernice Randolph Twomey Ruh, and (2) Bertha Irene Mayes Twomey.


Bertha Irene Mayes Twomey (1909-1984)

Bertha Mayes Twomey died on November 8, 1984. She was the daughter of Andrew Jackson "Jack" Mayes II and Savannah Maebelle "Mae" Olive Mayes. She was the wife of Lawrence Twomey.
