News (Fatality)-BOATRIGHT James (Murder by Charley McAfee)

ANOTHER TRAGEDY While celebrating the 4th of July at Mill Springs that city was the scene of another tragedy, resulting presumably from an old grudge between Charley McAfee and James Boatright. The two men stepped a few feet away from the dancing platform and passed a word or two, which was unnoticed by the by-standers when McAfee drew his revolver and fired at Boatright killing him instantly. McAfee backing off from the crowd with his revolver in his hand, and warning everyone to keep their distance from him, made his escape. He is yet at large. -- Wayne County Journal (Greenville, Missouri) 11 Jul 1907, Thu Page 1
