News-BINKLEY Odell (Hume Award)
Coach Ray Simpson (left) and Odell Binkley hold the rotating trophy presented to the winner of the annual Hume award each year. The little North high acatback also received a wrist watch for being the most outstanding of the city school's football players. Both awards were contributed by Mrs. William Hume and were originated by the late Mr Hume. • Odell Binkley, a football, baseball and basketball star at North high for the last three years, climaxed one of the top athletic careers in the Nashville Interscholastlc league yesterday when he was presented the William Hume award. Odell was given a gold wrist watch by Reber Boult, Nashville attorney who made the presentation at the Kiwanis club meeting in behalf of Mrs Hume while North Coach Ray Simpson received the huge rotating trophy that goes to school of the winner each year. •The Tennessean • Nashville, Tennessee • 02 Dec 1950, Sat • Page 10
