Our Family's Journey Through Time
This website is about the ancestors and descendants of Dianne Gebhardt and Larry Smith. We use a very broad definition of family and have included adopted and foster families, spouses of spouses, ancestors of our grandchildren, and as many cousins as we can locate.
Finding facts are a great starting point, but we are always looking for the stories about the people.
he first rule of Genealogy is that ancestors are harder to control than descendants!
Back during the late 1990s, we got started in Genealogy when we bought our first version of Family Tree Maker from Banner Blue Software. Back then, online research meant searching through the Genealogy.com catalog, hoping to find a promising-looking GedCom file. If I found an interesting file, I'd start the download before going to bed and hope the dial-up connection didn't fail overnight. Later, we bought libraries of GedComs on CDs. We introduced many errors into our tree during those days. It turns out that being on the internet doesn't mean it had to be true. I'm still working on fixing some of those errors.
We hope y'all enjoy your time visiting the site!
y research is done on Ancestry.com and is saved by Family Tree Maker on my own computer. My most current information will always be on Ancestry, so send me a note if you need a link. This online tree is created from information I have on Family Tree Maker, and so it rarely gets updated.
REGISTERED USERS:
You do not need to be a registered user to view this tree; however, only registered users may see information about living people or search for living people. If you would like to sign up as a registered user, make sure I know how we are related.
SEARCH NOTES:
When searching, make sure you use the last name at birth. I prefer using the first initial when searching to account for different ways of spelling a name.

Our Favorite Places
We've been researching these family names for over 30 years. I found lots of information combing through microfilm at public libraries, sending requests to State Archives, and tramping through cemeteries, but once the internet exploded with genealogy, many more doors have been opened for me to research.
If you have information you would like to add or if you would like to submit documents for inclusion on this website, please let me know.
If you do not see your surname, please use our search engine.
We make every effort to document our research. There is a lot of information that I do not have, and I know there are mistakes in this tree. My feelings will not be hurt if you give me corrections or additional information, especially if you can provide sources for the information.
