He was christened by the Kingston Church on April 27, 1684 and moved to present Port Jervis, New York in 1697, when he was age thirteen. In about 1710, he wed Styntje(Christina) Kuykendall and they moved to Big Minisink Island in the Delaware River, next to Montague, New Jersey. There they had three children and they were christened by a circuit rider from the Kingston Dutch Reformed Church.
